Mediators often tend to be experienced lawyers – you can
translate that to “older”.  We were not born with an IPod in our hands.  This means technology is not second nature to some of us, and we need to adjust.   Using technology in mediation is a great chance to let the parties visualize when they want, and sometimes see why their requests do not make sense.  These days most of us have
spreadsheets on our laptops, so why not use it in mediation.  People come to mediation confused, and sometimes emotionally attached to a particular position that makes little sense.  Seeing it on a spreadsheet,  talking it through, figuring out there are alternatives, all this is mediation. Come prepared. Some folks have a problem, the use of technology makes them anxious, but most people appreciate the efficiency of drafting the documents together, everyone having their own input.
